Outstanding Youth Awards

Congratulations to our 2022 Outstanding Youth scholarship winners! Each of the graduates below was chosen based on their leadership, volunteerism and/or community service along with their participation in one of our funded programs. A $1,000 scholarship is available to each of them through the St. Lucie County Education Foundation for any pursuits they choose after high school. In addition, each winner received a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop to support their education. Congratulations Sofia, Essence, Bella, Christian and Whitney!



Sofia Stromak is graduating from Lincoln Park Academy and from Indian River State College with her AA degree. She will attend the University of South Florida to study Psychology with plans to pursue a career in counseling and mental health.


Whitney Beauvil is graduating from Fort Pierce Westwood Academy and plans to attend Florida International University in the fall to study biological sciences/pre-medicine.


Bella Favata graduated from Lincoln Park Academy and plans to attend Florida State University to study Business.


Essence Thompson has been a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County for more than 10 years. Graduating from Lincoln Park Academy, Essence plans to attend Indian River State College to study music education and pursue a career teaching music. Essence also served as the 2021 and 2022 Percy Peek Youth of the Year. She is also the on-field entertainment announcer for the St. Lucie Mets.


Christian Baca is not only the President of the Roundtable's Youth Leadership group, he is also the Founder and Chair of the St. Lucie Youth Advisory Council of St. Lucie Public Schools, President of the National Honor Society, VP of Student Government, and has earned several awards throughout his high school life. He interns at a law firm, volunteers heavily in our community, and is interested in studying Educational Policy and Immigration Law at Yale.
